FIREFIGHTER
Eligibility list
SNOHOMISH COUNTY AIRPORT – PAINE FIELD
$4953 - $6022 PER MONTH PLUS BENEFITS

BASIC FUNCTION: To protect the general public from injury or property loss through fire fighting activities, first aid, aircraft rescue and fire fighting, hazardous materials and airport security.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATONS FOR PAINE FIELD FIREFIGHTER
(at time of testing)

• Candidate must have one of the following:
spacer1. One (1) year as a professional fire fighter
spacer2. Two (2) years as a part-paid/volunteer fire fighter
spacer3. Three (3) years as a military ARFF fire fighter

• Candidate must be current and have the following certifications:
spacer1. IFSAC FFI
spacer2. Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operation
spacer3. EMT

• Must pass job related physical test (CPAT).

spacerDEFINITIONS OF EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS

        • “One (1) year as a professional fire fighter” means that the candidate has at least one year of full-time employment as a professional fire fighter in a public, municipal or fire district fire department. The candidate must have successfully passed the
probationary period in his/her department and have been assigned to a fire fighting position on a regular shift schedule. Experience as a professional fire fighter must be within the prior twelve months.

        •“Two (2) years as a part-paid/volunteer fire fighter” means that the candidate has at least two years continuous service in a public, municipal or fire district fire department that has an active part-paid program. The candidate must have successfully passed the probationary period in his/her department and have been assigned to a fire fighting position. The candidate must have annually logged a minimum of 600 hours assigned residence/sleeper or on-duty time. Experience as a volunteer fire fighter must be within the prior twelve months.

        •“Three (3) years as a military ARFF fire fighter” means that the candidate has a minimum of three years service in any branch of the U.S. military where his/her primary assignment is or was as an aircraft fire fighter. Experience as a military ARFF fire fighter must be within the prior twelve months.

        • The IFSAC FFI, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations and EMT certifications must be recognized in the State of Washington. The EMT certification must be able to be registered in Snohomish County without further training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • A valid State of Washington Driver's License is required for employment.
  • Must secure and maintain a valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License within three (3) months of employment. You will be a candidate for random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Candidates for employment must pass a criminal history background check.
  • Ability to successfully complete the training of the Washington State Fire Academy as required.
  • Must maintain a valid EMT Certification.
  • A job offer will be conditioned on satisfactory results of a post-offer medical examination.
TESTING PROCESS:
The initial testing, the Fire Team test and CPAT will be conducted by “ NTN” http://www.nationaltestingnetwork.com/, located at 3101 111th St SW, Everett, Wa. 98204. Applications will be accepted until 5 pm, June 1, 2011.

Each candidate provided to Paine Field by “TNT” will also complete a Snohomish County Employment application, submit a resume and participate in an oral interview process for final placement on the Master Firefighter Eligibility List. Candidates will be contacted by the Public Safety Manager with specific instructions needed to continue in the testing process.
